• Hello!

Welcome to my blog - thank you for visiting!

I'm a Kent Wedding and Portrait Photographer based in Bridge, just outside Canterbury and I'm passionate about beautiful wedding photography which tells a story and captures the emotion and ambiance of the day. My style is relaxed, empathetic and unobtrusive, the best way (and the only way I know) to document one of the most significant, intimate days of your life. I like to think that i offer an exceptionally personal service and getting to know you is key.

If my approach and style of photography mirrors your vision for recording your wedding and you are looking for a unique record of your day, please contact me - I'd love to hear from you!

I also photograph families in Kent and my family home in Jersey, Channel Islands, my preference being to shoot on location rather than a starched white background. Besides being more dynamic, the shoot is intended to be fun and a lovely memory for all those involved. Should you decide that it's time to update your family portraits, why not book me to spend a couple of hours with you at your favourite location?

I hope you enjoy the forthcoming posts as much as I enjoy sharing.

A Jersey Engagement Shoot with Sam & Steve at Gorey Castle

I met up with Sam and Steve yesterday afternoon for their engagement shoot at Sam’s parent’s house. We headed off for the near by coast, wrapped up well and prepared for the chill!!  Our backdrop to the shoot was  Mont Orgueil Castle, located on the East of the Island, which for over 600 years protected Jersey against French invasion.  The castle is a famous land mark on the Island and has fond memories for me as a child, as it does for Sam, so it was the perfect location for the shoot!

Despite the unseasonal cold, windy weather, Sam and Steve soon relaxed into the shoot! Thankfully a warm front is heading our way in time for their coastal wedding on Saturday!

Here are a few images from the hour we spent together…

Canterbury Event Photography – Hearing Dogs for Deaf People – celebrating 30 years

I was approached by Hearing Dogs for Deaf People to cover celebrations for 30 years of Hearing Dogs.   I was delighted to accept the commission for this fabulous organisation.  The service was held in the crypt of Canterbury Cathedral on the 23rd January, which happens to be the eve of St Francis de Sale’s Day – The Patron of Deaf People.   This event was actually a joint celebration because Maggie, who is an assistant guide at the Cathedral, sadly lost her Hearing Dog Clay in July 2012 and so the service was also to remember Clay and celebrate his life.  The service was lead by Canon Clare Edwards and guests included The Lord Mayor of Canterbury and the Sheriff of Canterbury, the Chair of Trustees and CEO of Hearing Dogs.  Tea and cake were served in the Cathedral Lodge where a book of remembrance was held for Clay for all the people that knew and loved him.

The turnout was fantastic and it was a wonderful service.  There was a wonderful choir – Music in Motion, who had travelled from Birmingham and are a group of deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people, who use British Sign Language in a unique way to interpret popular songs by performing the lyrics of songs in sign language. Maggie read the most moving speech about her beloved Clay and there wasn’t a dry eye to be seen.

Here are a few images from the afternoon…

A frosty start to the day and shoots of new growth!

Wow!  What a start to the day this morning.  The sun was low in the sky and rising and so strong it was streaming over the gardens.  Jack Frost had sprinkled his magic and i was inspired to don my wellies and go out into the garden to shoot!  I used my 100mm macro lens (and a steady hand – no time to set up the tri-pod as I didn’t want the sun to melt the frost!) to shoot the following images…

these rose leaves could have been dipped in castor sugar!some good friends bought me this hydrangea as a house warming present last autumn.  It’s  one of my favourite plants, even when the flowers have died back, it’s still an interesting plant……so I was really excited to see some shoots of new growth – must pot it on in Spring!a new bud on a tree peony…I love these dead heads on this dill – there’s lots of new growth at the base and I can’t wait to enjoy this later on this year!New shoots on the roses – so pleased seeing as the were cut back so hard last year (not by me!)My Dad will be really pleased that the raspberry canes he transported from his garden are shooting – if I’m lucky I may even get a crop this year!Rhubarb!

really exciting to see the tulips i planted late autumn are shooting!the first emerging allium! This is such an exciting time of the year for gardens – especially as I’m getting to know mine – hopefully I’ll have lots of really nice surprises in store…

Cooling Castle Wedding Photography – the marriage of Lindsey and Perry

I met Lindsey and Perry 18 months before they got married at a wedding fayre at The Hop Farm.  Until they met me, they were unsure what style of photography they were looking for, then we met and everything clicked!  Needless to say, I’d waited a long time to photograph their wedding and I was delighted to be a part of their special day!

My day started off by meeting Lindsey and her bridesmaids at their home in Kent where the bridal preparations were under way and the champagne was flowing!  Lindsey and her bridesmaids were so welcoming and there was such a good buzz!  We then headed off to Cooling Castle Barn for the ceremony!

The weather was a bit on the miserable side (persistent rain basically!) but it didn’t dampen spirits and everyone had a great day!  We were lucky enough to have break from the rain for the group shots and Lindsey and Perry’s portrait shoot – but the wellies and colourful umbrella did come in handy!

It was real pleasure to capture Lindsey and Perry’s special day!  Here are few of my favourite images from the day….bridal preparation for a Cooling Castle Wedding

On to the speeches!  I love this part of the celebrations – often the speeches are very entertaining, sometimes a tad embarrassing (as below!) but always delivered with love and good intentions!

Let the dancing begin!

Congratulations Lindsey & Perry!
