Kent Countryside Engagement shoot with Julia & Mike

My friend had kindly given me the tip off that there was a poppy close to where we live so I was super keen to visit and start shooting!  However, with the recent burst of hot weather, the poppies were not looking their best – but still, the surrounding countryside was just beautiful – I love the Kent rolling hills and landscape – quintessentially English!  Mind you having said that, they were probably behind this year due to the delayed start of Spring!

I’ll be shooting Julia and Mike’s wedding at Leeds Castle in September, so being that they live in London, I suggested a countryside location for their engagement shoot.  This is such a good way to get to know a couple a bit better and makes for a great prelude to wedding photography. We meet at my home initially early evening when the sun was lower in the sky and the light a little softer.  So we headed off to the field of poppies and were drawn to most dense patch!

Julia and Mike had a brilliant sense of fun – this is what I wanted to capture, together with some tenderness and affection – and they did good!  It was such a lovely evening – really looking forward to documenting their wedding in a couple of months time – it will be here before you know it!

Here are a few of my favourite images from our time spent together…
