What a beautiful afternoon for an engagement shoot, also known as a pre-wed shoot. I was delighted to spend a few hours with Amanda and Harry who are getting married at La Mare Vinyards in September this year. I first met Harry a number of years ago when he was best man for Rob and Debbie, who’s wedding I shot in Jersey, and then again, with Amanda a couple of years ago at their friends Emily & Chris’s wedding, so it was such a compliment when Harry and Amanda asked me to shoot their wedding this year.
After postponing our initial date to meet for the shoot, the weather was kinder to us on the Easter Bank Holiday Monday! Being that spring has been slow to arrive, the daffodils were still out in abundance as was the spectacular magnolia tree. I love Rozel, it holds many special child-hood memories for me. It’s also a great location for photography, especially a shoot of this kind as it offers both countryside and coastal themes. Well what can I say about Harry and Amanda?! What an absolute dream to photograph – such good fun (i’ve excluded Harry’s “Blue Steel’ Zoolander impression!) and so good natured – a joy to spend time with.
It was a pretty bright afternoon so sunglasses were required when not in shade or back lit. I really don’t see this as a problem for this kind of shoot as the emphasis of an engagement shoot is to spend some time with each other so the couple become relaxed in front of the lens and photographer and just be themselves, with a little guidance on posture and what to do with those hands! As we approached the ‘golden hour’ the light was incredible.
I am so looking forward to shooting your wedding Harry and Amanda – role on September, it will be here sooner than you think!
Thank you so much Harry and Amanda – it was a great couple of hours – so good to get to know you a bit better and discuss your plans for your big day! See you in September x
