Kent Wedding Photography – The Engagement Shoot of Claire and Steve at Stodmarsh, Kent

I’d met Claire over 18 months ago when she booked me to photograph her marriage to Steve at The Old Kent Barn in Swingfield near Folkestone in Kent – so it was great to see them both at the end of May. I’d suggested we meet after 6pm when the sun would be lower – always a softer, more flattering light.  The blue bells really were on their last legs – but the coppice woods were still very pretty.  An engagement shoot is an excellent way to build a rapport with a couple and for them to feel more relaxed in front of the camera.  I’ll give some gentle guidance with regards to some straight forward ‘poses’. Apart from making a good photograph look great, i want the couple to feel comfortable enough in front of me so that ultimately the image reflects their relationship. Katherine & Sean’s Engagement Shoot, Stodmarsh Woods, Nr Canterbury Kent

Katherine, Sean and I had had decided some time ago that we’d choose Stodmarsh Woods (near Canterbury and my home town of Fordwich) as a location for their pre-wed shoot and to catch the end of the bluebells – before we had the heat wave over Easter!  The bluebells were fairly patchy – but we did find some!  The light was wonderful in the light shade – and the strong sun streaming through the tree canopy created a beautiful dappled light – it was very pretty.  Well done Katherine and Sean for withstanding the giant tree climbing ants and thistles!
