I had the pleasure of documenting Lauren and Michael’s wedding in May at Preston Court, a lovely venue set amongst the beautiful Kent countryside in the village of Preston, which is located outside of Canterbury. I first met Lauren and Michael in 2011 when they’d talked through their plans for a fairground theme for their day, so I’d been looking forward to shooting their wedding for a while!
All their planning was well worth it and the attention to detail was fantastic! It was a fun packed day beginning with a beautiful ceremony at St Mildred’s Church in Preston and then onto the celebrations at the neighbouring venue Preston Court. The guests had lots of treats in store – pink lemonade; home made ice cream from Daisy’s ice cream van (I’m a big ice cream fan and it was delicious!); a restored (by Michael and Lauren) vintage sweet cart busting with a wonderful selection of confectionery; a carousel; a fairground organ; a hook the duck competition; yummy fun fair inspired cup cakes, not to mention a delicious wedding breakfast provided by Scott Anderson and great music in the evening!
Although we had some rain (a down pour at several points) it didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits! It was really lovely day and I was delighted to be a part of it.
Here are a selection of images from the day…
I loved the colour scheme for the flowers – bright and beautiful – created by Luisa at Wild Daisy Florist based in Herne Bay, KentMichael’s father had dusted off and polished up his wonderful 1937 Vauxhall 25 motor car to take Lauren to the church. I love the dash board!
I loved the button holes – so pretty!
Lauren arrived looking absolutely radiant!
the strong sunlight created these beautiful coloured patterns within the church…
Although the morning had started off bright and sunny, rain was forecast for the afternoon, so we took the opportunity to catch some portrait shots around the grounds…
delicious pink lemonade!
onto the carousel – which was brilliant fun (if not a little tricky to navigate with a camera in one hand!)
Lauren and Michael had restored this vintage sweet cart – so many sweets to choose from!
If possible, I like to photograph the room where the wedding breakfast is being held before the guest enter the room. Lauren and Michael had paid such attention to detail – the room looked amazing. The guests were greeted by the sound of the fairground organ!
now for the speeches!
luckily the sun appeared again shortly before sunset – how dark the sky was in the distance!
Daisy’s ice cream van was a big hit – the ice cream was amazing!
Many congratulations Lauren & Michael!
