Wow! Where to start with Neil and Lara’s fabulous wedding at East Quay in Whitstable, one of my favourite venues locally. This special wedding venue, located at the end of east quay harbour and is one of Whitstable’s oldest buildings, was adorned with many personal touches and Neil and Lara’s attention to detail was immediately evident (including a beach hut table place plan which they’d made – a nod to where they first met!) . It such a pleasure to be part of their day – intimate, emotional (the whole range) and FUN!
We had the best and worst weather but thankfully the heavy downpour which timed itself for Lara’s arrival from her family home nearby, had passed by the time their ceremony had finished. Conducted by a family friend, the marriage ceremony felt all the more personal and there weren’t many dry eyes to be seen. Thankfully we were able to all head outside for some confetti throwing (if you follow my blogs and work you’ll know I’m a big fan of confetti shots – it’s a great opportunity to get some natural, spontaneous shots with all your guests – and pretty too!) and the dramatic cloudscape provided a wonderful backdrop. The drinks reception commenced and oysters were a plenty. Fish and chips were served for the Wedding Breakfast – just perfect for the setting, with everyone heading outside for dessert – sublime ice cream from Treats on a Tricycle . The ice cream is locally sourced from Willetts Dairy Farm near Tunbridge Wells. Being a big ice cream lover, I can highly recommend them – they are super friendly too!
Neil in particular is very expressive and both he and Lara were an absolute joy to work with.  During the speeches it became even more evident that Neil is a pretty big character amongst his friends and family – just brilliant to capture all the hilarity!
Given the heavy downpour earlier in the day, we super lucky to have the most wonderful sunset. I’d taken Lara and Neil out for some portrait shots on the beach after the wedding breakfast whilst we still had some good light and then headed over to one of the beach huts. To my delight, I could see the light changing as the sun emerged from behind the clouds to reveal the most beautiful sunset. Neil and Lara were so natural together – just gorgeous to capture their connection.
The dance floor was packed with enthusiastic moves to DJ Ian Gladwell and Lara and Neils genius play list!
Such a wonderful day. Thank you to all for making me feel so welcome and part of the gang!
Here are a few of my favourite images from the day….
