One of the things I enjoy most about wedding photography is capturing the informal, spontaneous moments of the day. There’s a lot of joy and laughter at weddings, but also – for the bride and groom in particular – nerves, anticipation and excitement. It’s great to be able to spend the entire day on the wedding shoot, as there are so many memories created along the way; getting ready in the morning, the nervous anticipation of the groom before the ceremony, the laughter at the speeches later on and the magical moments in between.
Sarah’s warm, bubbly personality comes out wonderfully in the images of the preparation before the wedding and her adorable flower girl (whose mother was also a bridesmaid) was such a poppet!
This was a fun wedding from start to finish and this comes out in the choice of venue, styling and activities that Sarah and Craig put on for their guests. The Secret Garden, nestled on the old Braeburn estate near Ashford, is a delightful mix of walled garden, flower meadows, orchard and flower cutting garden, that provides guests with plenty of room to spread out and explore and beautiful photo opportunities for the bride and groom shots. The ceremony itself took place outside at the gazebo, accompanied by a little shower of rain that fortunately caused more hilarity than anything! Afterwards, the beautiful Moroccan style marquee provided the venue for the meal and speeches. It was stylishly decorated with bunting from Funky Flags Bunting and gorgeously natural flowers by Anemone Blue, who specialise in using seasonal flowers and foliage, perfectly complementing the gardens. Sarah & Craig provided lawn games for their guests – great fun for everybody!
One of my favourite shots of the day is Sarah walking down the outdoor ‘aisle’ to the gazebo. The radiance on her face is breathtaking and her smile lights up the ceremony. For me, it sums up the joy and happiness of the whole day.
A huge thank you to Sarah and Craig for letting me be part of your day! And thank you too for this lovely testimonial:
“Trying to find the right photographer for your wedding is quite a daunting prospect as you not only want to be able to capture all the special moments of your big day, but you also want them to be a keepsake to look back on for years to come. So the pressure to get it right was huge and we didn’t really know where to start, but as soon as we found Catherine we knew that we had found exactly what we had been looking for! Catherine had such a warm, helpful and non-obtrusive approach and we felt that she would fit in to our wedding without us feeling awkward in front of the camera and without us really noticing that there was photographer present during all of the special moments throughout the day. On the lead up to our wedding Catherine was always quick to respond to emails and we never felt like a pushy bride or groom, but always felt that she genuinely cared about us and our experience. During our wedding day we had a few of the organised photos with family, but the best ones were when we didn’t even notice that Catherine was there and she managed to capture all of the happiness of the day. We absolutely can’t thank Catherine enough for out amazing photos and would recommend her to any couple who are looking for a photographer for their special day”.
