Sarah and Mark’s wedding ceremony took place at St Leonards Church in Hythe, set high up in the town overlooking the coast – a spectacular view! They held their celebrations at the perfectly positioned Lympne Castle which has the most wonderful views over the countryside and the coast – not to mention being seeped in history. Due to the windy weather conditions, the reception was held in the courtyard at the front of the castle where guests were sheltered.
Initially I first ‘met’ Sarah and Mark via skype when we discussed their plans for their wedding day and I explained how I work. This is a brilliant way of communicating if distance dictates that it might not be possible in the first instance to meet ‘in the flesh’! There’s no denying that it does feel a little strange for the first few minutes, but this soon disappears! So, the first time we met face to face was in April when we met at Sarah’s parents home in Hythe, where we went on to recce the church and then braved the windy conditions down at the coast for their engagement shoot (click here for a reminder if you missed the blog posting the first time round) – we had great fun – they have a lovely playful relationship, so I’d really been looking forward to shooting their wedding.
Back to their wedding day – what a beautiful day – sunny and windy – great for a bit of veil action. The light was incredibly bright, as it often is in June, which gives some options for some dramatic images. I loved Sarah’s pink blush wedding gown, so unusual and Sarah looked absolutely stunning when she arrived at the church in a gorgeous vintage car. There were lots of personal touches to the day, including their wedding cake which was made by Sarah’s mum, which was also the subject for part of Mark’s speech – a labour of love comes to mind as I lost count of how many sugar roses where on the cake! Talking of speeches – they were very entertaining, including Mark’s brother’s speech who commenced with a song! I was joined by the lovely Yasmin on the day who brilliantly assisted me and was able to capture some fabulous shots during the day – thank you.
Here’s the lovely feedback they gave me upon their return from their honeymoon..
