I had the pleasure of photographing Collette and Alex’s wedding at Mount Ephraim Gardens last September, followed by a fantastic food themed reception at The Lobster Shack @ East Quay in Whitstable. We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather, apart from a couple of very light showers which soon disappeared, thankfully!
My day started off by meeting Collette, her family and bridesmaids at The Anderson Shed in Whitstable which is self contained accommodation on the beach front – a really popular spot. I arrived to Collette being fed breakfast by her cousin as she had her make up applied! And that was just the start of their food themed wedding day! Being a real ‘foodie’ myself, I really hit it off with Collette and Alex as it was evident early on that they have a passion for good food. As you’ll see from the images later on in this blog posting, food was plentiful and Collette had gone to a great deal of trouble to create a truly amazing table full of home baked sweets and confectionery from Paris which her family had brought over with them that day.
Collette and Alex had kept the menu for the wedding breakfast a surprise for their guests after discovering a chef in London, I believe, who cooked the most incredible paella. What with the entrée of king size prawns, sizzling scallops, manchego cheese and serreno ham and then choice of three desserts it was a wonderful feast.
So onto the ceremony… Yasmin and I arrived at Mount Ephraim to find Collette and Alex’s guests enjoying the beautiful gardens and luckily equipped with large umbrellas for the intermittent rain showers! Alex was doing his best to hold back the nerves as he greeted friends and family and looked fabulous in his tailored suit….
Collette arrived in style with her father, bridesmaids and mother and looked stunning – beautiful and radiant.
The ceremony was made very special with touching and personal readings. After refreshments in the gardens we all headed off to Whitstable for celebrations at The Lobster Shack, a unique venue on the beach which had been stylishly dressed by Collette and Alex.
It was a wonderful day and a delight to document…. a special couple, the union of family and friends, a food fest, excellent speeches, wild dancing and a sun set!
Here are some of my favourite images from the day….
Many congratulations Collette & Alex!
