I’d met Claire over 18 months ago when she booked me to photograph her marriage to Steve at The Old Kent Barn in Swingfield near Folkestone in Kent – so it was great to see them both at the end of May.
I’d suggested we meet after 6pm when the sun would be lower – always a softer, more flattering light. The blue bells really were on their last legs – but the coppice woods were still very pretty. An engagement shoot is an excellent way to build a rapport with a couple and for them to feel more relaxed in front of the camera. I’ll give some gentle guidance with regards to some straight forward ‘poses’. Apart from making a good photograph look great, i want the couple to feel comfortable enough in front of me so that ultimately the image reflects their relationship.
I thought Claire looked particularly pretty in her choice of attire – her floral dress complimenting the wild flowers perfectly!
Here are a few of my favourite shots from the evening…

It was lovely to spend a bit of time with you Claire and Steve – I look forward to shooting your wedding in July!
