On a bright day in October, I had the pleasure of photographing Tom and Anastasia’s elegant wedding at one of my favourite venues locally, The Old Kent Barn, in Swingfield near Folkestone.
Tom and Anastasia had booked me to shoot their wedding some time in advance and the first time I met them was for their engagement shoot a week before their wedding! It really doesn’t matter how close or distant from the wedding date that a couple choose to have their engagement photographic session – and Tom and Anastasia are testament to that!
Their Old Kent Barn Wedding Photography started when I joined Anastasia and her bridesmaids and mother in the stylish bridal preparation suite at The Old Kent Barn and their beautifying was in full swing! Anastasia’s hair stylist was creating a work of art and even prior to full make-up, Anastasia looked sensational! It was quite a family affair, as Anastasia’s bridesmaids were her sisters and soon to be sister-in-law. I adored the bridesmaids dresses, in particular the detailed and semi-backless bodice – so unusual but incredibly glamorous! I loved that Anastasia had chosen to keep the bridesmaids bouquets quite simple – pretty sprays of gypsophila.
After Tom had greeted their wedding guests, it was time for Anastasia and her bridal party’s entrance. The adorable flower girl and page boy sprinkled rose petals along the pathway which lead to Tom where he was accompanied by his two best men.
After the ceremony and some confetti throwing, Anastasia and Tom were joined by their guests for their champagne reception. The warm weather and sunshine so welcomed – so lucky for and October day!
After some pre-planned group shots and whilst the guests were being seated, I whisked the newly-weds off for some portrait shots around the grounds where I could find the best light. Fortunately, in October, the light at around 4pm is softer as the sun sits lower in the sky. We were also lucky enough to have sunset, so after the wedding breakfast, I took Anastasia and Tom to the best spot to capture the incredible light.
It was such a wonderful day and I was so pleased that I was asked to capture their special day – Tom and Anastasia were a dream couple!
